Go Woke? Go Broke. Disney and Netflix Valuation Plummets

The Parents Rights In Education Bill—dubbed the “Don’t’ Say Gay Bill” among it’s opposition—barred educators from exposing their students to instruction regarding sex and gender identity. The heart of the bill (Section 1.3) reads “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

After examination, “Don’t Say Gay” is a misnomer. Rhetoric devices as such are popular among liberals clinging to strawmen in the absence of solid argumentation.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis gleaned pushback after signing the bill, but his critics misunderstand the bills’s language either purposefully or out of ignorance. Shortly after the signage Twitter was filled with blue-checkmarks repeating the word “Gay” out of spite even though uttering the word isn’t illegal according to the bill. Instruction—from educators—cannot be on sexual orientation or gender identity. It ought to be said the bill applies to heterosexuality and general instruction on sex and/or gender, too.

Pete Buttigieg constructed the tallest strawman of them all on CNN Newsroom when commenting on DeSantis’ bill, “Chasten, my husband, pointed out that if our kids someday, some Monday morning, come into class, you know, and kids are sitting around and the teacher’s got the morning circle talking about how everybody’s weekends went, and one of them says, ‘I had the best weekend with my dads,’ is the teacher supposed to say, ‘No, we don’t talk about that here?’

Someone armed with a slight understanding of The Parents’ Rights In Education Bill can see through Buttigieg’s caricature. The bill doesn’t outlaw children mentioning that they have an obscure parental situation. Children are free to utter the words “my dads” or “my moms“. The bill only prohibits teachers expounding on sexuality and/or gender identity. In a situation like the one Buttigieg puts forth, the child is free to mention the sex of their parents. The law doesn’t even apply to children, only the teachers.

To answer Buttigieg’s strawman, if a responding students asks the teacher, “Why does Billy have two dads?” the teacher can respond “Ask your parents“. Which, is well within the lines of normalcy regarding an educator who has nothing to do with the private lives—let alone isn’t entitled to inject their values and/or philosophies into the minds of their students—of their students.

The Walt Disney Corporation joins Buttigieg and Twitter check-marks to display their opposition of DeSantis’ anti-grooming bill. Disney employees performed a walk-out protest shortly after complaining to leadership. The protest was indicative of the agenda festering inside the corporation. After, it was uncovered an executive producer yearned to place queer characters wherever possible in Disney’s content. Disney’s corporate president said she desires half of Disney characters to be LGBTQIA or racial minorities, according to a Tweet by Christopher Rufo. Not surprising for a company that celebrates Pride Month (in a theme park meant for children) and fires conservatives employees.

Disney released their statement, “Florida’s HB 1557, also known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law. Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or stuck down in the courts, and we remain committed to support the nation and state organization working to achieve that. We are dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ members of the Disney family, as well as the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and across the country.” Here, Disney employs a Marx-esque, self-victimizing language to appear on the side of moral piety. The language in the statement deceivingly forms Disney as being on the defensive. Though it’s demonstrable this isn’t so. Disney is the one indoctrinating children via the subtle means of virtue signaling. After all, they’ve professed they purposefully create fictional characters based on an a-priori system of woke values.

Unfortunately for Disney the American people aren’t so easily won like they were in times before. Common Americans responded by using the left’s favorite weapon: cancelling. Across the country, Disney+ subscriptions were cancelled with celebration on social media. Some international names like Croatian soccer star Dejan Lovren joined in.

Many report Disney lost +350,000 subscriptions, and though this claim remains to be substantiated the rumor led to a collapsing of the $DIS stock by nearly 18%.

A majority of Floridian Democrats support Desantis’ billalong with most Americans—thus Disney walked into its own demise. Contrary to what many on the left suppose parents desire to teach their children their own values and not those of establishments. In particular on the topics of sex and gender.

DeSantis has followed up with his own offense, a refreshing change in the American right. As of April 22 the Florida governor signed a bill revoking Disney’s tax privileges afforded to it by it’s jurisdiction in the Reedy Creek Improvement district. After a year of the bill’s signage Disney will be subject to a higher tax payments. Hopefully, these payments will offset Disney debt bestowed to nearby jurisdictions.

The devaluation of Americas leading digital content provider, Netflix, would overshadow Disney’s. Since November of last year the stock is down over 70%. The stock recently capitulated after Netflix announced subscribers were leaving the platform in droves, and that it’s expected more will follow the dissenters.

It’s simple—American are leaving Netflix because the platform is pumping out woke content. Soon, a new series will release featuring a transgender pregnant man titled He’s Expecting. The description of the show is as follows, “When a successful ad executive who’s got it all figured out becomes pregnant, he’s forced to confront social inequities he’d never considered before“.

Pandering to wokeism doesn’t fair well for profit generation. Considering that a majority of Americans think transgender athletes ought to compete with their biological sex—and not their identified gender—it’s more than likely most Americans adopt the sensible, less radical position that men cannot conceive children. Netflix ignores this, and the market (American citizens) responds with their wallet. It appears appealing to wokeists doesn’t work like it did before during the BLM riots of last year when virtually every Forbes 500 company signaled their piety. The American people, albeit slowly, are gaining their senses and aren’t easy to sway like they once were.

Thanks for this information Charles! I was not aware of the increasingly heavy influence of the LGBTQ at Disney. It makes me sad to hear, but good to be informed as we don’t support this agenda. We do not subscribe to Disney+, but if we did, we would definitely be cancelling.
